Flitterstein / Welcome to the Framing of Calthair

30.01.2026

Oderic von Flitterstein invited nobles from the region as well as their retinues to a gathering in Flitterstein. Baron Calthair with a host from the pheonix Reich and other allies such as Sir Dagger of Blackwood arrived from Pirmasens while a delegation from the von Krippen family was also present. It was the general consensus among the notables gathered that no one was sure if Oderic was a legitamate noble.

Oderic von Flitterstein had issued the invitation and both Lord Cathair of Pirmisens and the Pheonix Reich, and a delegation from the von Krippen family had attended. Tensions between the von Krippen family from the lands on the southern boarder to Pirmasens were no secrete to those who knew the region. Although they exchanged niceties and official greetings, tension was ever present.

During the opening hours of the gathering, the Steward of the Flitterstein estate had an altercation. The Steward had insulted Calthair making egregious claims about his ability to care for and protect his wife as Calthair is always traveling. The matter became so heated that the Steward left the main hall and Calthair stormed after him. Sir Dagger of Blackwood left the hall as well to follow after Calthair and arrived in the courtyard just in time to see Calthair storm into another building, slamming the door behind him. The former baron of East Blasckwood, Dagger Arkenstone did not follow further and instead returned to the festivities.

The steward was found murdered shortly thereafter. Given the recent altercation and heated exchange of word, and the direction in which both parties and walked in upon leaving the main hall, Lord Cathair was initially suspected of being the murderer. The representatives of the von Krippen family spared no time in leaning on the evidence of Lord Calthair's guilt. They even went so far as to pressure Oderic von Flitterstein into perusing the matter, although Oderic was decided non-committal.

Over time as more evidence was uncovered, that the murderer was one of the maids of the estate. She was able to credibly assert that he had walked into her knife. This had happened because he had falsely accused her brother of theft. With this discovery, Lord Cathair's innocence was simultaneously proven and the maid was punished for her crimes but allowed to live.

During the gathering at the Flitterstein estate, many of the guests began to fall asleep in strange places and or rather suddenly. When they awoke they did so with stories of nightmares and dreams. Each dream and nightmares becoming increasingly dark and disturbing but all were rooted in memories of the past actions or events of the dreamers. Investigation by mages, druids and knowledge theorized a possible relation to an overall problem with magic and lay lines throughout the region. The matter must be further investigated as evidence suggests the problem is far larger than initially assumed.

After the general festivities were mostly derailed by the nightmares and murder, the planned events resumed when all difficult matters that could be resolved were. A meeting between Lord Calthair of Pirmasens, the delegation from the von Krippen family and Oderic von Flitterstein, with council from other notable guests, forged the first trade agreements with Flitterstein in spite of the parties of Pirmasens and von Krippen harboring reservations about the legitimacy of Oderic von Flitterstein. With matters of direct diplomacy and trade, the night ended with a small ball, drink and song.
